First Bus ceased to participate in Local Government Pension Schemes on 31 October 2023.

If you were continuously employed at an employer that was acquired by First Bus from a local council in the 1980’s and 1990’s, you are likely to have benefits in a Local Government Pension Scheme. As of 31 October 2023, members stopped building-up future benefits in the LGPS. From 1 November 2023, employees who were members in the LGPS when First Bus ceased to participate were enrolled into the First Bus Retirement Savings Plan 1.

Benefits for LGPS members employed by First West Yorkshire, First South Yorkshire and First Manchester are administered by Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF).

Benefits for LGPS members employed by First Glasgow and First Aberdeen are administered by North East Scotland Pension Fund (NESPF).

For further information regarding your benefits in the LGPS, please contact the administering authority directly. As First Bus is no longer an admitted body in the LGPS, we are unable to raise questions on your behalf.
